Why?

Welcome to Mafic FairPay! We use technology to give tradespeople the ability to earn more cash. We firmly believe tradespeople are the most important people onsite and getting better conditions for you guys will drive more successful projects.

Our device uses some clever machine learning to detect when someone is working hard and offers extra payment. It can tell when someone is stationary, active or walking or even when someone is using a particular tool such as tinsnips or an impact wrench.

This tech is for tradespeople and our number 1 priority is to improve working conditions and engagement for you by directing money from the people at the top to people on the ground who are making the difference. If you don’t like any aspect of what we do or think we can improve the tech or anything else, please drop us a note, we would love to hear from you.

We don’t share personal performance data with your employer, the only thing we tell them about you is the amount of money they owe you! You have access to all of your own data through this app and can learn more about Mafic and become part of this community by following us at https://www.instagram.com/mafic.fairpay/

How to Use It?

Wear the hardhat as normal, the device records information about the movement of your head using accelerometers. Place the hat on charge at the end of every shift, make sure the blue light comes on on the charger.  When the device is on charge it is uploading the data for processing. Please put the hat on charge every evening to make sure you have enough juice for the next day and also to get you your data.

Check the app in the morning to see how you have done. Don’t let other people wear your hat, they could lose you money.

Your Privacy

We take data privacy very seriously. The data we collect from your hardhat is used to understand if you have had a good day or a bad day so we can tell your employer how much extra to pay you. You are the only person who can see your personal data. You should never show your data to anyone including your boss unless you are comfortable doing so.

Your data will be mashed together with other peoples and we may send this part to your employer however this will only describe how the project is performing and will not include any personal information about you.

In the future we may pass this data to third parties such as insurance companies and tool manufactures but again, this is in aggregation and your personal details will never be revealed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does working effectively mean that I have to work faster?

No, this isn’t about working harder. The best way of increasing your Performance Pay is to ensure that you are able to work continuously at a sustainable pace. Reducing time you are stationary or walking is the way to improve. Setting up your workface with everything you need at the start of your day is the easiest way to improve

How much is Performance Pay worth?

Up to £65 per week with £40-50 being very achievable for most people

How is the Performance Pay calculated?

Performance Pay is calculated using three metrics: individual MPS, individual On Workface time and team MPS. You will receive a gold , silver or bronze ranking for each of those daily. If you achieve a Silver or Gold in each category you will receive Performance Pay, which can be up to £13 per day (£65 per week).

Can I lose money?

No, the Performance Pay is always supplementary to your existing wage and should not be used by your employer to justify a lower rate.

How will I be paid Performance Pay?

Performance Pay will be paid monthly, automatically included in your normal pay. The bonus is paid to your sub-contractor who will pass it on to you. You can check the app to find out how much you have earned from Performance Pay.

If I leave the site, will I get paid the rest of the Performance Pay I am due?

These decisions are totally at the discretion of your employer. If you leave due to misconduct, internal procedures may stop you from receiving your Performance Pay. You will not lose your Performance Pay for leaving to go to other sites running FairPay or for other reasons deemed acceptable by your employer.

What happens if I don’t hand my device back?

If you do not hand your device back in, the cost of the device will be taken from your residual Performance Pay.

What happens if I don’t wear it?

If you don’t wear the device, you will unfortunately miss out on receiving any individual Performance Pay. Furthermore, your team will miss out on their team Performance Pay as team Performance Pay requires a full team’s data. Nobody should ever mandate you wear it.

What happens if the device breaks, is stolen or has any other issue?

If you have any problems with your device, it is best to contact your office where there is a supply of spare devices. You will be given a replacement device at no cost.
